What shoes does your child's school allow?

Here is a list of schools and their uniform policies that are local to our shops in Portishead and Clifton, Bristol.  Hopefully it will be a quick guide for you to check what your child is or isn't allowed to wear in terms of school shoes.

Bishop Road Primary School, Bishopston, Bristol Flat, sensible, safe, plain black shoes (trainers or shoes: no Crocs or similar and no visible branding please) Plain black ankle height boots (no calf or full length boots).
Blaise Primary and Nursery School, Henbury, Bristol Flat, sensible, safe shoes (trainers or shoes), in a neutral colour (black/beige/brown/very dark navy: no crocs, slides or similar. Plain, flat boots are acceptable in winter Flat sandals, with a heel strap, are acceptable in summer.
Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Hotwells and Harbourside, Bristol Black Shoes. Trainers are not permitted. Not sports brands (e.g. adidas, nike, converse, vans)

Collegiate School, Eastville, Bristol Pre-School - Plain black polishable shoes with velcro straps. Prep School - Plain black polishable shoes with velcro straps or laces. Year 7–11 - These must be black and polishable. Plain black, laced,slip-on or with a strap formal shoes with no buckles or decorations. Suitable for all weather conditions. Sixth Form - These must be black, polishable and in keeping with the suits worn in the 6th Form. Plain black, laced or slip-on formal shoes with no buckles or decorations. No boots/ankle boots or sharp stilettos.
Cotham Gardens Primary School, Cotham, Bristol Cotham Gardens Primary School is a non-uniform school. Children can wear whatever they feel comfortable learning in. We do however ask parents to ensure children have suitable footwear i.e. no flip-flops or crocs.
Cotham School, Cotham, Bristol Footwear: Black, leather type shoes only We do not allow boots, shoes with a raised heel, ‘dolly’/ballet type shoes. Uniform shoes must fasten securely with laces or a strap and the foot must be fully enclosed. Uniform shoes must be worn throughout the day – changing into trainers during break or lunchtime is not permitted unless it is to use the All Weather Pitch or Multi Use Games Area or field.
Elmfield School for Deaf Children, Horfield, Bristol Black smart shoes only: – they must be polishable – they should not be made by a sports brand and there should be no sports logo on them at all – the heel can be up to 3cm, but no higher – the shoe must cover the whole foot or have a strap to secure over the foot if they are smart pumps or smart slipper shoes (Primary - black shoes)
Elmlea Infant School, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol INFANT SCHOOL SHOES Sensible school shoes (black or navy) – no laces please. Sensible sandals (black, navy, brown or white). Trainers not suitable
Elmlea Junior School, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol JUNIOR SCHOOL SHOES Supportive School shoes that your child is able to run in safely – black, lace up, or with a cross bar, buckle or Velcro (Not ballet style pump shoes). Sandals in navy, white or black may be worn in summer (with socks). Please note: For safety reasons shoes with high heels or platform soles should not be worn.
Fairfield High School, Lockleaze, Bristol Black smart shoes o they must be polishable o they should not be made by a sports brand o there should be no logos on them o heel no higher than 3cm o the shoe must cover the whole foot or have a strap to secure over the foot
Fairlawn Primary School, Ashley, Bristol Flat, sensible black shoes suitable for active play. The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes with platform soles or high heels in school, so we do not allow this. We do allow the children to wear smart trainers (in a plain black) as they spend a lot of time being active. No coloured or white flashes or rims must be visible on the shoes and laces must be black.
Filton Avenue Primary School, Lockleaze, Bristol
Henleaze Infant School, Henleaze, Bristol Plain, black footwear suitable for school activities. Children should be able to independently manage fastenings (ie. laces only for those who can tie them). Open toe sandals should not be worn due to health and safety concerns .
Henleaze Junior School, Henleaze, Bristol Black school shoes -may include plain black trainers. Sensible sandals may be worn in summer. (No high heels, crocs or flip flops)

St Bonaventure's Catholic Primary School, Redland, Bristol
St Johns Church of England Primary School, Clifton, Clifton, Bristol Footwear: o As an active school, our children take part in physical exercise regularly throughout the week. Therefore, we would recommend dark coloured trainers are worn for everyday use (a small logo or sole in a lighter colour is acceptable). o If shoes are worn, these should be dark and enclosed, and children must ensure they have trainers available in school every day should they need to take part in active learning.

The Dolphin School, Montpelier, Bristol Plain black, flat soled shoes or boots. Trainers are not acceptable. Worn throughout the year

Westbury Park School, Westbury Park, Bristol Black Shoes
Westbury-On-Trym Church of England Academy, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol Black flat school shoes (lace up, velcro or buckle). All black trainers are also allowed (no flashes of a colour on the trainers anywhere including the sole please or a coloured logo). No boots, or sandal type shoes allowed. Wellington boots may be worn to school if raining heavily or snowing (but a bag must be brought in for these to be stored in or taken home by parents)
All Saints Church of England Primary School, Clevedon, North Somerset Children should wear supportive black shoes. Shoes with platform soles or high heels, flip flop, gel shoes, fashion shoes or boots are not allowed, as they can be dangerous and are not in keeping with the smart appearance of a school uniform. If shoes break we would aim for a replacement to be provided within two weeks.
Backwell Church of England Junior School, Backwell, North Somerset Black sensible leather shoes (no heels, high boots, or trainers).
Backwell School, Backwell, North Somerset Acceptable school shoes: plain, black flat shoes that can be polished. Unacceptable school shoes: No trainers, canvas shoes, boots or high heels.
Birdwell Primary School, Long Ashton, North Somerset Plain black shoes or plain black trainers. Please note, in reception these must be velcro or self-fastening. No laces please.
Clevedon School, Clevedon, North Somerset Plain Black Footwear: Black polishable leather or leather-look shoe with a distinct low heel (please see further guidance below). No sports branded shoes / trainers (such as Vans, Converse, Adidas, Nike, Lonsdale, Reebok, Puma, Slazenger) – this list is not exhaustive. We expect all students to wear a traditional shoe. Shoes are to be just black in colour. No canvas, boots or dolly type shoes are permitted.
Crockerne Church of England Primary School, Pill, North Somerset Black school shoes or non-branded, completely black trainers/hard wearing shoes (no heels/croc style or open toes)

Gordano School, Portishead, North Somerset SHOES: Plain smart leather black shoes of a suitable design that can be polished. No high heels/ sling backs or open toes. SHOES WITH CANVAS OR FABRIC UPPERS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
Grove Junior School, Nailsea, North Somerset Shoes - Shoes (no trainers please) should be black and able to be fastened independently. Children in Hannah More also need a pair of “wellies” in school. We ask that children do not wear boots or open-toed sandals for health and safety reasons.

Northleaze Church of England Primary School, Long Ashton, North Somerset Plain black shoes or trainers without obvious logos. If your child chooses to wear trainers as their school shoe, it is essential that they are fully black, not canvas material and can be cleaned.
Portishead Primary School, Portishead, North Somerset Plain black shoes. Running, football or canvas shoes are not permitted.
Ravenswood School, Nailsea, North Somerset Black Shoes or Black Trainers of a safe and suitable type (no high heels or open toes)
Sidcot School, Winscombe, North Somerset Plain back leather shoes without a heel (including wedge heels) and weather appropriate. Trainers may only be worn with school uniform when playing games outdoors, such as football or basketball, at lunchtime and after school.
St Andrew's CofE Primary School, Congresbury, North Somerset Appropriate and sensible footwear (darker colours, no trainers)
St Francis Catholic Primary School, Nailsea, North Somerset Brown or black school shoes (polishable)
St John the Evangelist Church School, Clevedon, North Somerset Footwear - Shoes should be of a dark colour in a sensible style. When choosing your children’s shoes please bear in mind: children need to run freely in the playground as the school has under floor heating, boots are unhealthy and should therefore not be worn all day. During the warmer weather children may wear sandals in school provided: they are sensible and support the foot; the footwear has an instep support strap on the top of the foot or feature a T bar the strap has a buckle or velcro fastening Fashion shoes, flip flops, crocs or shoes with heels are not acceptable.
